How to extend the lifespan of your safety footwear
Tips for proper cleaning and maintenance of your safety footwear.
Proper maintenance and cleaning of safety footwear are not only important to ensure your safety but also to extend the lifespan of your PPE.
Clean regularly.
Did you know you should perform a routine cleaning after each use?
Making sure daily that your footwear — especially the sole — does not accumulate dirt is a habit that makes a real difference!
In your daily routine, give them a quick wipe with a damp cloth and let them air out before storing. You can use a brush for better results when removing residue from the sole.

How should you wash your safety footwear?
Your protective footwear should be washed every 15 days using running water and a neutral soap to avoid damaging the material.
If you want to wash footwear coated with microfiber fabric, wash it at a temperature of 60ºC to maintain its quality and elasticity.
For proper drying, choose a cool place without intense heat exposure. Drying should be done slowly, avoiding extreme heating of the footwear. Before the next use, we recommend letting the footwear dry completely.
Follow the recommendations for leather-coated safety footwear.
Safety shoes and boots with leather uppers require greater care to preserve their properties. To maintain the leather’s flexible and resistant nature, you should:
- Avoid exposure to high temperatures
- Use products designed for maintaining and protecting the material
- Allow them to dry naturally
Did you know we have the ideal disinfectant for your footwear?

Keeping your footwear looking good is important, but you also need to pay attention to what you can’t see with the naked eye. That’s why we developed a disinfectant that eliminates 99.8% of viruses, bacteria, and fungi.
With the P393 Footwear Disinfectant from the Clean&Care range, you can get rid of bad odors and enjoy a fresh, clean scent without any risk of irritation.
It’s compatible with various materials commonly used in footwear, such as leather, rubber, plastics, and other synthetics.
Combining the use of disinfectant with antimicrobial insoles and high-absorption socks is the “secret” to keeping the inside of your shoes hygienic.
When do you need a new pair?
Even with all the care taken, the day will come when you’ll need to replace your favorite safety shoes with a new pair. Watch out for these signs of wear:
- Increasing discomfort
- Tears or holes in the lining
- Sole coming loose or worn out
- Water absorption (in the case of waterproof footwear)
If that’s the case, read our article on how to choose the best footwear for your job.
