Do you know the benefits of brushless motor machines?
Everything you need to know about brushless technology.
If you are familiar with our PECOL PowerTools, you have probably come across the term “brushless,” which, as the name suggests, refers to motors without brushes. But what distinguishes this technology from traditional technology? In this article, we explain the main differences you will find in this type of equipment.
What ensures greater tool durability?
The common “Brushed” motor is developed with graphite brushes. Therefore, when performing a job, the brush and the armature will come into contact and there will be friction, predisposing the machine to more intense wear.
The absence of this component in the motor is the result of a major technological advance. Brushless technology allows for a tool with a longer life cycle, as there will be reduced wear and resistance to movement.
What do you gain by choosing this type of motor?
There are several advantages that come “solely” from the difference in the motor, such as:
Longer life
This is one of the most characteristic benefits of brushless motors. Wear caused by tool use is significantly reduced because there are fewer components in contact.
Lighter and more compact machines
Brush motors are larger and heavier. The reduced size of brushless motors creates more space to:
- Ensure more effective ventilation;
- Improve the weight distribution of the tool;
- Increase ergonomics and comfort during operations.
This offers a greater benefit in terms of torque/weight ratio, since brushless machines are smaller and lighter for the same torque.
Greater power and activity
They also stand out for their higher mechanical performance and energy efficiency. They provide greater torque per Watt of input.
There is a significant reduction in electromagnetic interference (EMI).
Fewer inconveniences
In addition to eliminating motor sparks and producing less noise during applications, brushless motors ensure greater reliability and their maintenance costs are considerably lower.
